"Our car has gone from being an expense to a source of income. We rarely use it, but with small children we can't do without it. We rent it out so many times that it covers all our trips to the mechanic''"

You can enable automatic renting so renters do not need approval, or keep approval on so renters send a request you can accept or decline.
If you must cancel, inform the renter and Tale Rent support as soon as possible. Avoid cancellations because they can affect your host status.
You set your own rates. We provide pricing suggestions based on similar listings. Additional fees outside the platform are not allowed.
Helvetia insurance is mandatory for all renters. Please inform your primary vehicle insurer that you are renting your vehicle on a peer-to-peer platform.
Helvetia may cover damages, but the renter is responsible for the excess. If an unauthorized driver uses the vehicle or the renter drives illegally—such as under the influence or excessively speeding—they are fully liable. Review the Terms and Conditions and Helvetia Standard Terms of Insurance for details.
Here is what you should do: 1) The renter reports the damage at return to the host and Tale Rent. 2) The host informs Helvetia directly with policy number 97'010 as soon as possible by phone (+41 58 280 3000) or online. 3) Helvetia manages the remaining process. Check the Helvetia Standard Terms of Insurance for details.
Payments are handled online via Stripe. You receive the payout no more than 48 hours after the rental period ends.
Tale Rent includes theft and embezzlement insurance through Helvetia. If the vehicle is stolen or not returned, the policy provides protection. Document the vehicle’s condition before and after each rental.
Yes, but the person must be approved as a secondary driver/renter beforehand. If this is overlooked, any consequences are handled between the renter and host.
Block the dates you need in your availability calendar. For confirmed bookings, follow the cancellation policy. If the rental period has started, you cannot get the vehicle back until it ends. Contact us if you need more support.
Renters should return the car in the same clean condition they received it.
Keep the vehicle well-maintained and serviced. Be transparent with the description and photos so renters know what to expect. Keep the car clean and ready, communicate promptly, and provide clear pickup instructions.
Inform your primary insurer that you are renting your vehicle via a peer-to-peer platform. During rentals, the vehicle is covered by Helvetia because insurance is automatically purchased when a vehicle is booked. See the Helvetia insurance details and our Terms and Conditions.
You can decide where renters may drive. Some countries can be restricted by insurance. Restrictions appear on the vehicle page, and renters are notified.
We run Sumsub background checks on all users. Hosts must check the renter’s ID at handover; keyless renters must upload their ID. Helvetia provides comprehensive insurance. We also partner with Intrum to handle fines directly with renters. Terms and Conditions outline all rights and obligations.
If the renter is more than two hours late and unreachable, inform the police (117) immediately and notify Tale Rent support. The vehicle is insured by Helvetia against embezzlement. Tale Rent and Helvetia manage the process after the police investigation.
We share data with Helvetia solely to process contracts and settle claims (plate number, vehicle brand/type, registration, identification number, vehicle price). Limited data may also be shared with trusted providers: Sumsub for KYC/AML identity verification, Intrum for unpaid fines and legal collection (stored and shared per Swiss/EU law), and Invers for digital vehicle access under GDPR for installation/service purposes. Data is never used for commercial purposes. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Traffic violations are the renter’s responsibility and will be charged to their original payment method after the host provides an official notice. If unpaid, they are escalated to Intrum.
Meeting in person is not required. Remote keyless handover and procedures are available, provided the host completes the simple setup.
Theft: someone steals the car without permission (e.g., break-in or hotwire). Embezzlement: the renter legally receives the car but fails to return it (keeps it beyond the rental period or disappears). Helvetia protects hosts against both. Document the vehicle’s condition before and after each rental.
