You can cancel from your bookings page with no fee up to 48 hours before the rental start or within one hour of booking. Within 48 hours, Tale Rent keeps service charges and the host receives the cancellation fee. Refund schedule: 48+ hours: full; 24–48 hours: 75%; 12–24 hours: 50%; less than 12 hours: no refund. For urgent reasons, contact us, but applicable fees must be paid first.
Pick up keyless or meet the host at the agreed location. Inspect the vehicle for existing damage and ensure it matches the listing. Report discrepancies immediately through the website or app.
Helvetia insurance is mandatory and covers all rentals. The renter is liable up to a CHF 1,000 deductible. Renters are responsible for anything not covered, including unauthorized drivers, driving under the influence, using the vehicle outside allowed regions, improper tires or vehicle condition, intentional or reckless damage, and failure to report damage immediately to the host and Helvetia. See the Terms and Conditions and Helvetia Standard Terms of Insurance for details.
Late returns may result in extra hourly fees. Let the host know in advance if you are running late. You can extend your rental to avoid fees. A 30-minute grace period applies; after that, the host may impose a late fee with Tale based on the delay and circumstances.
Yes. Many hosts offer weekly or monthly discounts—check the listing or ask the host.
You can extend your rental by booking further dates through Tale Rent. Extensions depend on vehicle availability and host approval.
Hosts may set mileage limits. Extra charges may apply if you exceed them. You can purchase extra mileage before your trip.
Yes, as long as you have a valid driver’s license recognized in Switzerland or the EU.
Helvetia includes theft protection for all rentals. Renters must take precautions like locking the vehicle and following security guidelines. Theft due to negligence (e.g., leaving keys inside) may make the renter responsible. See Tale Rent Terms and Helvetia Standard Terms of Insurance.
If the vehicle is stolen, report it to the police (117) immediately and inform Helvetia’s 24/7 hotline +41 58 280 3000 with policy number 97'010. Inform the host and Tale Rent. Helvetia manages the process based on the police investigation.
Enter your location, dates, vehicle type, and preferences. Tale Rent shows all available vehicles that match your criteria.
You can travel to countries allowed by the host and covered by Helvetia. Ensure you have the required documents. Most listings allow cross-border travel, but confirm with the host. Coverage is not valid in Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, or Iran. Liability insurance is not valid in Kosovo.
Restrictions appear on the listing page and in the Terms and Conditions. Drive only within the allowed territory and insurance coverage. Fees may apply if you exceed the allowed territory. Travel to excluded countries immediately ends the rental without compensation; the renter’s record will note it, but you can appeal.
Some hosts offer vehicles with accessibility features. Check listing details or use search filters. If unsure, message the host. Tale Rent values inclusivity and offers options when possible.

Any traffic violation is the renter’s responsibility and will be charged to the original payment method after the host provides an official notice.
The host must state all vehicle issues. An unstated issue is not the renter’s responsibility. Report the incident to the host and Tale Rent; the host manages the claim.
Call Helvetia Roadside Assistance 24/7 at +41 58 280 3000 and provide policy number 97'010. Helvetia manages towing and repairs. If the vehicle cannot be used, the remaining rental can be canceled with no fees through support. If the vehicle is still usable, you can cancel but will not be reimbursed. Inform both the host and Tale Rent. See the Helvetia Standard Terms of Insurance.
If the vehicle is drivable and no third parties are harmed, the host can report damage after return. If third parties or injuries are involved, call police 117 immediately, fill and sign the Accident Form (in the vehicle or online), upload it to Tale, and follow police guidance. If the police say you cannot drive, they will call a garage; inform Tale Rent with garage details and cancel the remaining rental for reimbursement per Terms. If you can continue driving, you may finish the rental or cancel without reimbursement. Check Helvetia Standard Terms of Insurance for details.
Other people may drive unless the listing states otherwise. They must have a valid driver’s license recognized in the rental country and be added as additional drivers during booking. Only the primary renter can change the booking. In an accident or breakdown, the primary renter must contact Helvetia Roadside Assistance or the police and notify the host and Tale Rent through the standard process.
